I am taking this course as part of my minor requirement and also for the general knowledge of using Access. I hope to be able to functionally use Access when finished with this course. This spring I was enrolled in AIS 310, in which the class worked on a Access project. I was part of the customer service group so my responsiblities were data entry and contacting the non profit the database was being done for. I would have like to have more hands on experience other than just data entry, and be able to see a finished and useable database.
For my internship this summer, I am responsible for scrubbing a few thousand scholarship files. The information I get from the files, such as award amounts and years, will be put into a database and the database used to get reports for sponsors, donors, and supporters of the charitable organization. I believe knowing how to use Access will help me in this capacity, but also help in the long run, as a skill and useful tool in the business world.
